RELIVE THE JOURNEY

The 2009-2010 Boston Celtics
Run to Remember

Recapturing One Story of the Millions Worldwide Who Bleed Green With Celtic Pride
“Everything But Belief is not your boring fan recollection of a team’s road through a season and playoffs. This is a recreation, a story with a thrilling plot and our favorite characters, that will have you feeling the excitement, the ups and downs, and ultimately the big finish that was so vivid for all of us only a year ago.”
- Anthony J. Serino (Boston, Massachusetts) Writer, CelticsLife

WHAT??? A book about that basketball team who did not win the NBA championship in 2009-10?

I thought runner-ups are rarely remembered and only have their place in record books!

Not this team.

And not for Gerald Alden.

If you are like GA, chances are you not only like, but love that team in Beantown: The Boston Celtics. Words like “The Big Ticket”, “The Truth”, and “Grand Theft Rondo” are your everyday lingo. You’ve seen Ray Allen shoot lights out more than once. You’ve been inspired many times by Doc Rivers’ “speeches” in the locker, the practice facility, the hallway or even in the middle of a quick huddle. You’re a witness to how the Cs massacre their opponents with its trademark defense.

You treat almost every player like family. You respect their fans and know what it’s like to go through a rollercoaster ride of emotions from the offseason to the postseason. And you know how important the spirit of Celtic Pride and Ubuntu are to this team … in fact, to you, they may not just be principles but your way of life.

The 2009-2010 Boston Celtics tells the story of a team that had the desire to win it all. Again.

Standing in their way were 29 other teams, with a handful who appeared promising to become the next champion and one who looked poised to defend the title.

More importantly though, they came face to face with their greatest opponent: themselves.

Revealing itself in the form of questionable age and unpredictable health, at that time, almost everyone knew it might well be their last season to play together and give a wholehearted run at the championship. And if they were ever going to show the basketball world what a true Celtic is all about, they would not just need physical force, talent or skill … but they would need a lot of heart.

They would need to sacrifice everything … but belief.

And believe they did.

This is a story of their journey told from the eyes of one of their fans – a writer, who in a way, felt like he was a part of the team, sharing its range of emotional struggles, losses, victories, and lessons learned inside the locker room or in a 20 second timeout.

And no matter what the outcome of the final score in that last and soon to be legendary game displayed, he knew it was all worth it – becoming a Celtic. Even from a distance. Believing and becoming a part of a team rich in tradition and teamwork. Believing that together, anything is possible. Believing that in the end, you can look back at all those moments with pride and know that it was definitely, a run to remember.

WHAT OTHER CELTIC FANS ARE SAYING:

“This book really captures the ups and downs of the Celtics 2009-2010 campaign. The quotes from the players and coaches are dynamic and the personal touch by Alden is outstanding. This is a must have for any Celtic fan and any person who loves the game of basketball.”

- Karl Dillinger (Virginia, USA) Columnist, CelticsLife

“I have read Gerald’s book many times over and have found its contents to be totally credible and surprisingly precise. I mention ‘surprisingly precise’ because Gerald lives thousands of miles across the ocean, nowhere near Boston or even New England. In his book, Gerald has taken a very personal and moving account of why he believes so much in the Boston Celtics. His writing style further lends to the credibility of his personal story. He really knows his stuff and indeed ‘bleeds green’ with Celtic pride. Read his book and you’ll agree with me!”

- Roger Castonguay (Maine, USA)

“Very well done!!! I’m really impressed and just one more word … UBUNTU!!! “

- Fabrizio Grassi (Milan, Italy)

“Influenced by my dad, my cheers has always been for the Boston Celtics. Everything But Belief — definitely a good read that will keep you thumbing through the pages.”

- Kai Clima (Tacloban, Philippines)
